Metadata helps organize and categorize assessments, offering educators clearer trends in the TASK data.
Note: Metadata can only be viewed by session moderators and administrators. Candidates will not see this information.
Default metadata fields
The following fields are included by default:
- Session location: indicate whether the session is in-person or remote. This field is required and will trigger differences in candidate monitoring during the assessment.
- Role: indicate if the candidates are students, staff, professors or alumni.
- Program level: if candidates are students, indicate if they are from undergraduate, postgraduate or other education levels.
- Major: if candidates are students, indicate their area of study.
- Step: indicate whether candidates are taking the assessment at the start (entry), in the middle (intermediate) or at the end (exit) of their study program.
- Engagement: indicate whether the assessment is mandatory or not for candidates.
Session metadata vs assessment metadata
Metadata can be applied at two levels:
- Session level: The metadata is applied to all assessments within that session.
- Assessment level: The metadata is saved directly on the individual assessment, giving maximum granularity.
Precedence
If metadata is defined at both levels, assessment-level metadata overrides session-level metadata for that specific candidate.
Adding metadata to a session
When creating a session, after you indicate the first parameters of the session, as shown here, you are invited to indicate the metadata for the session. The metadata entered here will apply to all assessments within the session.
Alternatively, when inviting candidates, for example through the copy/paste option or CSV upload, you can add the metadata on the candidate level.
